so this weekend i got a sweet chance to go back to the mountains and relax.  i went with elizabeth’s family to a quaint little bed and breakfast in glade valley, nc near sparta, nc.  it was a log cabin home with a ton of bedrooms for everyone.  all her brothers and their wives, as well as connor, elizabeth’s nephew, came up for the weekend.  friday liz and i were there with just her parents so we headed off to stone mtn. state park.  it was awesome.  we ate lunch at the base of a freezing cold 200ft. waterfall and then decided to hike 6 miles around the whole park.  it killed us but it was good to get in shape and fun talks along the way.  my back hurts from carrying her 1/2 the time.  just kidding!  she was a trooper and it was worth it when we made it to the top!

so then after that we were dead and went home to meet up with the rest of her family and those who had arrived.  we went to eat and the next day we wanted to do another adventure so we got online and found canoeing.  we decided to drive to the new river and canoe down it!  it was awesome.  we did a 3 hour trip and with a 30 minute lunch break it took almost exactly that!  we canoe’d six miles down the new.  it was peaceful and fun.  hot and then cold.  the water was awesome and the scenery to die for.  i was a little scared with liz at the helm, but again, she did GREAT!  i was speechless the whole time at God’s creation and beauty.  we were definitely in the heart of it.
